Limba mandarina - circa 1,4 miliarde de vorbitori

Mandarina, limba oficiala in China si Taiwan, este, de departe, cea mai vorbita limba de glob, depasind engleza, din punct de vedere al numarului de vorbitori, intr-un raport de cel putin 2 la 1.
Nici nu este de mirare, daca ne gandim ca majoritatea populatiei chineze (cea mai numeroasa de pe glob) vorbeste mandarina. De asemenea, mandarina mai este vorbita in Singapore, Indonezia, Macau, Filipine si in puternice comunitati chineze din SUA, Australia, Peru, Canada, Mauritius sau Rusia. Si, cu toate acestea, mandarina este una dintre cele mai dificile limbaje de pe glob, un incepator fiind incapabil sa inteleaga fiecare nuanta a cuvintelor rostite de un nativ. Spre exemplu, fiecare cuvant poate fi exprimat in cel putin 4 moduri (sau tonuri), putand insemna altceva in functie de modul in care este pronuntat si de felul in care sunt accentuate sunetele.

Chineza mandarina este una dintre cele mai vechi limbi ale lumii care, mai mult, a pastrat neschimbata aceeasi scriere de acum cel putin 3-4000 de ani. De altfel, madarina este limba in care a scris insusi Confucius, contemporanii nostri chinezi putand citi lucrarile acestuia fara a avea nevoie de adaptari ale textelor antice la grafia timpurilor moderne.

Ca sa saluti in mandarina, trebuie sa spui "Ni hao". ( Cu mentiunea ca "Hao" se pronunta ca o singura silaba, iar tonul trebuie scazut pe sunetul "a", pentru ca apoi sa fie ridicat, din nou, la final).
